supporting survivors of trauma through their recovery is our passion.

At Healing Lab Somatic Therapy, we believe in the healing power of breath, movement, contact, art, play, and nature. We work to bring you experiences that create somatic freedom, healing, and empowerment through all these elements. We deeply value mental well being. We understand the experience and neurological components of trauma, PTSD, and Complex PTSD. We design all of our sessions to offer choice to our clients because through choices we learn about ourselves, about what our body needs, and through that learning we rebuild trust between mind and body. We attempt to create an environment of safety by using trauma-informed language and teaching techniques to prevent re-traumatization in class and sessions. We understand the responsibility of white wellness practitioners is to honor the roots and traditions of trauma informed somatic practices and to facilitate these sessions while reducing harm. We believe that somatic healing should be available to all, and work to create financially accessible options to all. We believe in relational and community healing. We utilize our privilege to create experiences and spaces of community healing for all bodies.

DENA WOODS, OWNER/LMT/CYT

Dena Woods is a Trauma Touch Therapist, licensed massage therapist and certified yoga and meditation teacher and has worked with clients in the wellness industry since 2014.

Using a strengths based approach, Dena crafts all her sessions to meet clients where they are in their healing journey, knowing that each part of the journey is necessary for healing integration. She encourages you to show up as you are, knowing that showing up is sometimes the hardest part, and to trust that simply showing up as you are is enough.

Dena holds a Bachelor's degree in Art History from Indiana University and is an artist and musician. She also deeply loves plants and being in nature, and incorporates nature into somatic sessions when clients are ready for the healing support of nature.

Also a survivor of complex trauma, Dena has been in recovery for C-PTSD since 2016. She came to massage therapy, yoga, and Trauma Touch Therapy through her own journey in trauma recovery. These modalities have offered her the deepest healing and support in her own journey and she now offers these services to help others in their trauma recovery. Dena specializes in working with clients that experience PTSD/C-PTSD, survivors of religious trauma, survivors of sexual violence, and survivors of childhood abuse and neglect. Clients that work with Dena can expect to be heard, to be validated, to move at their own pace, and to participate in evidence-based services to help repair the nervous system.
